Our Mission
Recovering Past Stories for the Future
A Synergistic Approach to Textual and Oral Heritage
of Small Communities

Our objectives
The project objectives build synergistically upon textual and oral stories to explore the past of small communities, with the goal of restoring the public’s emotional connection to discontinued traditions
Who we are
Partners
Skilled and competent partners are an essential prerequisite to successful comparison, validation, and implementation of ideas. Thus, we teamed up in a consortium with 20 partners, each bringing unique expertise and resources to our shared mission. By collaborating across sectors and geographies, we connect institutions and diverse initiatives with similar preoccupations. Some partners act as validators of the Transylvanian methodological and interpretative approach, others as monitors, consultants, and facilitators. By joining forces, we amplify our impact and drive meaningful change.
The constellation of ideas put forth by the project’s partners will investigate the similar challenges faced by small and middle-sized communities concerning the sustainable management of a limited amount of human and material resources, validating the role played by cultural heritage in generating an efficient strategy for dealing with social needs and community identity. The results of this investigative phase of RESTORY into the textual and oral stories of the past will generate a set of methodological and interpretative tools, effective across Europe’s the cultural, geographic, political, and socio-economic diversity, assisting people into making sense of current-day societal transformations.

The project builds organically upon Community Engagement

Beyond academic research, RESTORY emphasizes community engagement. Cultural professionals are invited to participate in training sessions, fostering a bridge between historical wisdom and current needs. These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate cultural heritage into modern practices, promoting sustainability and cultural continuity.

RESTORY also presents the opportunity to attract cultural professionals from archives, museums, and libraries to training sessions designed to enhance the correct and comprehensive management, conservation, and capitalization of cultural heritage, all in relation to the needs of the wider public and administrative decision-makers at a local level.
