Restory Podcast:
Stories from the Past. Ideas for the Future

The Restory Podcast is a series of conversations with researchers working at the intersection of cultural heritage, history, and community development. In each episode, we explore the stories behind the research: how communities remember, how cultural heritage evolves, and how lessons from the past can help us imagine more sustainable futures. Through candid discussions and research case studies from the Restory project, the podcast invites listeners to rediscover the hidden knowledge embedded in everyday heritage.

Episode 1:
Þingvellir National Park in Iceland

In the first episode of the Restory Podcast, together with Dr Guðmundur Hálfdánarson, professor emeritus of history at the University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands) and a partner in our project, we explored how migration, globalisation, and changing identities challenge our understanding of heritage.
Can a place so strongly tied to national history become a space of inclusion? Who gets to feel represented and who remains outside?
It was an inspiring conversation about heritage and national identity and how cultural heritage can be reimagined for a more inclusive future.
Thank you, Guðmundur Hálfdanarson, for your insights and advice on exploring history, cultural heritage, and inclusion, and to Paula Beudean (C.School, Restory partner, as well) for facilitating the discussion.
