WP5 Matera Meeting, 8-10.07.2024

In a recent meeting, members of the WP5 “Identifying Needs, Piloting and Replicating the Model” team gathered to discuss and develop a unified strategy to facilitate the Restory project.

The team, comprised of community facilitators and researchers guided by Consorzio Materahub Industrie Culturali e Creative, alongside researchers from the Oral History Institute at the lead partner institution, Babeș-Bolyai University, engaged in a productive exchange of ideas and strategies. Throughout the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of placing people at the heart of their work. They drew inspiration from various community-oriented and heritage-centred initiatives and conducted open brainstorming sessions to tackle the challenges that lie ahead in the Restory project. The participants also agreed that the stories collected should not only be a reflection of individual experiences but also serve as a mirror for the community’s collective memory and aspirations. To achieve this, the strategy must be deeply rooted in the principles of community engagement and co-creation, ensuring that the narratives are not imposed but rather emerge organically from the voices of the people themselves.

In addition to structured discussions, the meeting included freestyle brainstorming sessions, which allowed for a flow of creative ideas and innovative approaches.

As the meeting concluded, the WP5 team had laid a strong foundation for the next steps in the Restory project. With a shared vision and a commitment to community-centred storytelling, the team is now better equipped to tackle the challenges ahead. The strategy that emerged from this meeting is not just a plan of action but a reflection of the collaborative and inclusive spirit that drives the Restory project.
