Project RESTORY, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at investigating the sustainable management of material and human resources over the last 800 years in Transylvanian rural and urban communities, was officially launched on May 5th, 2024, together with partner Sighișoara City Hall. This pioneering project seeks to address local schooling, intuitive circular economy processes and affective communication strategies in relation to inhabited places by integrating innovative methodologies and cutting-edge research.
At the launch event, key representatives from both institutions emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the project’s ambitious goals. Dr. Adinel Dincă, Project Leader, highlighted the innovative strategies that RESTORY will deploy to examine the remarkable symbolic vocabulary of regional cultural heritage and territorial identity. Meanwhile, Dr. Lavinia Costea, Manager of the project, stressed that “Sighișoara is the only urban settlement to participate nominally in a large-scale project dedicated to recovering stories from the past, a project that will be presented to partners from all over Europe”. The EU-funded initiative gathers 20 institutional collaborators interested in sharing their expertise in recovering and preserving medieval and modern textual heritage, as underlined by Prof. Dr. Nicolae Teșculă – Director of “Sighișoara History Museum” and Răzvan Hobai, representative of Sighișoara’s Documentary Library, while Iulian Sîrbu – Mayor of the municipality of Sighișoara – emphasized that this is the first “Research and Innovation” project focused on cultural heritage won by a Romanian academic institution, and Sighișoara is delighted to be a part of it.
